Boa Tarde!!

Acabamos de chegar a Belo Horizonte, sede da Terra Brasil Turismo!

Depois de 27 dias a viagem chegou ao fim...

O ultimo dia da viagem foi bem emocionante! Após o passeio de saveiro em Angra dos Reis, chegamos a nosso DELICIOSO hotel que fica na frente do mar! À noite, nos emocionamos bastante em nosso Luau de despedida e dançamos até não agüentar mais ao som do DJ!! Os desembarques ocorreram da forma planejada, e todos os intercambistas já estão em casa ou a caminho de casa.

A viagem foi ótima! Gostaria de fazer um agradecimento muito especial à nossa coordenação. Dri, Ana e Juliana, vocês foram maravilhosas!! Muito obrigada por fazerem parte da equipe Terra Brasil e por me ajudarem a tomar conta dos intercambistas!! Meus agradecimentos também à nossa muito querida chaperone Angela Maria Silva Rezende, do distrito 4580: muito obrigada novamente por TUDO!!! Obrigada também à Dra Lorena, por cuidar dos meninos!!

Good Afternoon!

We just arrived at Terra Brasil Turismo office, in Belo Horizonte.

After 27 great days the trip is over…

The last day of the trip was great! After an amazing boat ride in Angra dos Reis, we arrived in our delightful hotel located in front of the sea! The night was perfect! Everyone cried a lot at our farewell Luau: nobody wanted the trip to end…
The landings took place as planned, and all the exchange students are already at home or on their way home.

I would like to make a very special thanks to our coordination. Dri, Ana and Juliana, you were wonderful! Thank you for being part of Terra Brasil team and for helping me taking care of the students! My thanks also to our dear chaperone Angela Maria Silva Rezende, Rotary District 4580: thank you again for EVERYTHING! Also thanks to our doctor Lorena, for taking care of everyone!


A huge hug to everyone and hope you enjoyed our blog; see you at the next adventure!!

Rio de Janeiro!!!

Bom dia a todos!!

Escrevo agora da cidade mais esperada pela maioria dos intercambistas: RIO DE JANEIRO!!! Conhecida como Cidade Maravilhosa, é de uma beleza ímpar entre montanhas e o mar!

Chegamos aqui na Sexta-feira à tarde e dezessete estudantes que optaram por fazer o tour somente para o Rio de Janeiro se juntaram a nós. Como nosso hotel fica em Copacabana, os estudantes aproveitaram para conhecer a praia, caminhar pelo famoso calçadão e claro, tirar muitas fotos!! À noite jantamos em um delicioso restaurante próximo ao hotel e em seguida fomos descansar!

No sábado pela manhã acordamos e estava um dia maravilhoso!! Fomos então ao Corcovado, e os meninos ficaram maravilhados com a beleza dessa cidade vista do ponto mais alto!! Logo em seguida visitamos o Pão de Açúcar, mais um grande ponto turístico da cidade!
Ontem pela manhã a maioria dos intercambistas optou por fazer o tour opcional para a Favela da Rocinha: todos adoraram e aprenderam bastante sobre a maior favela da América Latina!!! À tarde, visitamos o Sambódromo (onde o famoso Carnaval do Rio de Janeiro acontece) e em seguida fomos para o bairro Barra da Tijuca, onde jantamos em uma das melhores churrascarias do Rio de Janeiro!


Daqui a pouquinho partimos para Angra dos Reis, ultima cidade do roteiro, onde faremos um incrível passeio de saveiro pelas paradisíacas ilhas com águas calmas e transparentes e a noite teremos um inesquecível Luau de despedida, com direito à DJ!! De lá, mando mais notícias!

Good morning all!!

We are in the most awaited city of the whole trip for the majority of the exchange students: Rio de Janeiro. Known as the Marvelous City, it is a unique beauty with mountains and beaches mixed in one place!

We arrived here on Friday afternoon and seventeen students who chose to make the tour only to Rio de Janeiro joined us. As our hotel is located in the famous Copacabana beach, the students took the opportunity to visit the beach, walk along the famous “boardwalk” and of course, take lots of pictures! At night, we went dinner at a very delicious restaurant nearby and then we rest!
On Saturday morning we woke up and it was a wonderful day (really sunny)! We then went to Corcovado Hill, and the students were amazed by the beauty of the city from the highest point! Shortly after we visited the Sugar Loaf, another major tourist spot in town!

Yesterday morning the majority of the students chose to do the optional tour to Favela da Rocinha: everyone loved it and learned a lot about the biggest slum in Latin America! In the afternoon we visited the Sambódromo (where the famous Carnival of Rio de Janeiro happens) and then went to Barra da Tijuca neighborhood, where we had dinner in one of the best steakhouses in Rio de Janeiro!


In a bit we are going to Angra dos Reis, last city of the trip and where we will take part of an incredible boat adventure through the tropical islands with calm and transparent waters. At night we will have our farewell party!! From there, I’ll send more news!

Porto Seguro, BAHIA!

Bom Dia!!!

Estamos em Porto Seguro, última cidade que visitamos da região Nordeste do Brasil: a viagem já está na reta final! Chegamos aqui na terça-feira e aproveitamos para descansar!

Ontem pela manhã aproveitamos o sol para curtir a praia! À Tarde fizemos o city tour pela cidade Alta, que é a primeira cidade brasileira. Depois partimos para Santa Cruz de Cabrália, onde foi celebrada a primeira missa do Brasil. Todos gostaram muito e aprenderam muitas informações importantes sobre a cidade e os locais visitados.

À noite, FESTA! As festas aqui em Porto Seguro são muito organizadas: cada noite é festa em um lugar só, sendo assim esse lugar fica mais cheio e muito animado! A festa de ontem foi o Lual do Barramares! Dançamos MUITO até 2 da manhã!!!
Partimos daqui a pouco para Guarapari, no Espírito Santo aonde vamos apenas fazer um parada para descansar e seguir no dia seguinte para o Rio de Janeiro, cidade tão esperada por todos!

Good Morning!!

We’re in Porto Seguro, the last city in the Northeast region we visited: the trip is almost at the end! We arrived here Tuesday night!

Yesterday morning we enjoyed the sunny day to go to the beach! In the afternoon we went to Cidade Alta, the first Brazilian city. Then we went to Santa Cruz de Cabrália, where the first Mass was celebrated in Brazil. Everyone liked it very much and learned much valuable information of the city and the places visited.
At night, PARTY! The parties here in Porto Seguro are really organized: every night is party in just one place, so this place gets more crowded! Yesterday’s party was the Barramares Lual! We danced a LOT until 2 in the morning!!

Now we’re going to Guarapari, in Espírito Santo state, where we’ll overnight before continue our journey to Rio de Janeiro, the LONG AWAITED CITY by everyone!

Salvador

Bom Dia queridos seguidores do Blog!

Estamos em Salvador, capital do estado da Bahia e última capital da região Nordeste que vamos visitar. Aqui foi a primeira capital do Brasil, e também é conhecida como a “capital da alegria”!!

Nossos dias aqui foram poucos, porém inesquecíveis. Chegamos domingo à tarde, depois de passarmos o dia na Praia do Forte, onde visitamos o Projeto TAMAR e passeamos em sua charmosa vila. Já no final da tarde, MUITA DIVERSÃO!! Fomos ao ensaio do OLODUM, uma banda de percussão baiana que inclusive já tocou com personalidades internacionais como Paul Simon e Michael Jackson! Todos SIMPLESMENTE amaram o show, e dançaram até não agüentar mais!!

Ontem nós tivemos um dia dedicado à linda capital baiana. Fizemos um tour histórico pelos pontos turísticos mais importantes, como Igreja de Nosso Senhor do Bonfim (onde todos compraram as famosas fitinhas e fizeram pedidos), Mercado Modelo, Elevador Lacerda, Igreja São Francisco de Assis e o Centro Histórico do Pelourinho. À noite, os estudantes vibraram com o espetáculo do Balé Folclórico da Bahia, considerado por eles um dos melhores programas culturais de toda a viagem.

Com certeza Salvador vai ficar guardado no coração e na memória de todos!
Amanhã partiremos para Porto Seguro, cidade das festas e diversão, e última cidade que visitaremos na região Nordeste do Brasil, de onde enviaremos mais notícias.

Good morning dear Blog followers,

Here we are in Salvador, capital city of Bahia state and the last capital of the Northeastern region that we will visit. Salvador was the first capital of Brazil, and is also known as the “capital of happiness”!!

Our days here were few, but unforgettable. We arrived here on Sunday afternoon, after spending the day at Praia do Forte where we visited the TAMAR Project (to protect sea turtles) and its charming village. At the end of the afternoon, we had lots of fun!

We went to the rehearsal of Olodum, a percussion band from Bahia who has also performed with international celebrities such as Paul Simon and Michael Jackson! Everybody just loved the show, and danced a lot!!

Yesterday our day was dedicated to this beautiful city. We made a historic tour through the most important sights of Salvador, such as Senhor do Bonfim Church, Lacerda Elevator, São Francisco de Assis Church and Pelourinho Historical Center.
At night, the students were thrilled with the spectacle of the Folkloric Ballet of Bahia, considered by them one of the best cultural programs of the entire trip.
Surely Salvador will be saved in the hearts and minds!
Tomorrow we will leave to Porto Seguro, a city of parties and fun and the last city of the Northeast region that we will visit. I will send more news from there.

Recife!!

Boa Noite a Todos! Já estamos em Pernambuco!!! Chegamos aqui em Recife ontem quase na hora do almoço, depois de uma rápida viagem desde Natal. Almoçamos em nosso hotel e na parte da tarde saímos para Brasília Teimosa, uma comunidade carente que é um exemplo de luta do povo nordestino. Após uma agradável conversa com a diretora do colégio da comunidade, Avani, os estudantes conheceram as crianças do bairro, brincaram com elas, deram presentinhos que compraram e também lembrancinhas de seus países!

As crianças ficaram muito felizes com nossa visita! À noite....muitas risadas: tivemos o tão esperado Show de Talentos da viagem!! Foi um sucesso, com 19 apresentações!! Muita música, danças típicas de cada país e muitas brincadeiras fizeram da nossa noite muito especial!!! Hoje acordamos cedo, passeamos pelo Recife antigo e seguimos até a cidade histórica de Olinda, onde apreciamos suas lindas casas antigas, igrejas e ainda fizemos uma aula de frevo: é uma cidade realmente encantadora! Após o almoço, continuamos nosso tour pela Veneza Brasileira, como o Recife é conhecido. Visitamos o Castelo de Ricardo Brennand, e todos acharam fantástico!

Terminamos o nosso dia no Recife Shopping, o segundo maior shopping center do Brasil e claro, todos vibraram! Amanhã cedo vamos para a Praia de Porto de Galinhas, uma das mais lindas do Nordeste, a 58 km daqui. No final da tarde, seguiremos para Salvador, BA, mas antes faremos um pernoite técnico em uma cidade no caminho para descansarmos, pois a viagem é muito longa até Salvador. Ainda temos muita diversão pela frente!!!! D a capital baiana envio mais notícias!

Good Evening all!
Today I write from Pernambuco state!!!! We arrived here in Recife yesterday at lunch time, after a quick trip from Natal. We had lunch at the hotel and in the afternoon went to “Brasilia Teimosa”, a destitute community of Recife, but an example of people’s fight for better conditions of life. After a conversation with the community school’s principal, Avani, the students were introduced to some children and could give them souvenirs from their countries and gifts that they bought in Natal! The children were very happy with our visit! In the evening…LOTS OF LAUGHTS!! We had the awaited Talent Show!! It was awesome, with 19 presentations!! Music, typical dances, songs and some jokes made our night really special!!

Today we woke up early and saw a little of the Old Recife. Just after we headed to the historic city of Olinda, where we appreciated its beautiful old houses, churches and even did a “frevo” dance class (cultural and typical dance here)! The city is really charming and we had very pleasant moments there. After lunch we continued our tour through the Brazilian Venice, as Recife is known. We visited Ricardo Brennand Castle and the students found it amazing! We ended our day in Recife Shopping Center, the second largest shopping center in Brazil and of course, everyone cheered!

Tomorrow morning we will go to Porto de Galinhas Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches of the Northeast and 58 km from here! In the afternoon, we will continue our journey to Salvador, BA but we will overnight in a city on the way to rest, because the journey is too long up to the Bahia’s capital. We still have lots of fun ahead!! From Salvador I’ll send more news!

Natal/RN

Boa Noite!

Hoje escrevo do Rio Grande do Norte: estamos em Natal, a capital mais ensolarada do Nordeste! Por ser bem próximo a linha do Equador, tem dias aqui que chega a ter até 15 horas de sol!!!
Chegamos aqui na segunda-feira a noite e ontem acordamos cedo para conhecer o maior Cajueiro do mundo, que fica na praia de Pirangi do Norte. Depois da visita ao Cajueiro, passamos o dia curtindo a praia e então voltamos ao hotel para nos prepararmos para o Lual que tivemos ontem à noite.

O Lual foi uma delícia, com muita música e diversão! Aproveitamos para cantar parabéns para Martin Antonio, Ryan Meachen, Adriana, Lukas Doll e Anna Saarinen, que fazem aniversário durante a viagem, comemorando com um delicioso bolo de chocolate com morango.

Hoje o dia foi de muita emoção! Fizemos um passeio de buggy pela linda cidade de Natal e pelas dunas da praia de Genipabu. Depois, aproveitamos a praia e agora temos tempo livre para arrumar as malas, pois amanhã cedo nós sairemos para Recife! Mandaremos mais notícias em breve.

Good Evening!

I am writing now from Rio Grande do Norte: we are in its capital, Natal, the sunniest capital of the northeast! Since it is very close to the Equator Line, the summer days here are very long, with up to 15 hours of sun!!

We arrived here on Monday night, and yesterday we woke up early to visit the largest Cashew Tree in the world, located at Pirangi do Norte Beach. After visiting the Cashew Tree, we spent the day enjoying the beach, and then we went back to the hotel to get ready for the Lual we had last night.

The Lual was awesome, with a lot of music and fun! We took some time to sing Happy Birthday to Martin Antonio, Ryan Meachen, Adriana Henriques, Lukas Doll and Anna Saarinen, who are celebrating their birthday during our trip, and we had a delicious chocolate and strawberry cake.

Today we had plenty of excitement! We did a buggy tour around the beautiful city of Natal and also went up and down the sand dunes of the Genipabu beach. After that we hang out at the beach and now we have free time to pack our luggage, because tomorrow morning we leave to Recife! We will send more news soon!

Maceió, AL

Bom Dia!!

Ainda estamos em Maceió, mas logo após o almoço partiremos para Natal!
Nossa, os dias aqui foram deliciosos! No sábado à tarde visitamos as Piscinas Naturais de Pajuçara: todos curtiram tanto que não queriam mais sair do mar!! À noite, fomos dançar forró no tradicional Lampião, uma casa de show a beira-mar, na Praia da Ponta Verde: todos mostraram o que aprenderam em nossa aula em Belo Horizonte!!

Ontem pela manhã, acordamos cedo e seguimos até a Barra de São Miguel, onde pegamos um barco e atravessamos para a MARAVILHOSA e PARADISÍACA praia do Gunga, uma das mais lindas de todo o Nordeste. Após muita dança e diversão no barco com o cd de músicas que fizemos especialmente para essa viagem, chegamos e ficamos lá por mais de 5 horas: todos nadaram, caminharam enfim...curtiram bastante a praia!!! Fomos depois para a Feirinha do Pontal, com um belo artesanato, e rendas.

Hoje, como a manhã é livre, a maioria aproveita para dormir até um pouco mais tarde, enquanto outros estão na piscina ou fazendo caminhadas pela praia, curtindo a ultima manhã em Maceió!

Good Morning!!

We still are in Maceió, but after lunch we are going to Natal, at Rio Grande do Norte state!
The days here were AWESOME. Saturday afternoon we went to visit Pajuçara Natural pools. The students liked it so much that they did not want to leave the water! At night we danced forró at Lampião, a traditional forró house, in front of the sea. The students showed what they learned at the Forró Class in Belo Horizonte!!

Yesterday morning, we woke up early and went to Barra de São Miguel, where we took a boat to cross to Gunga Beach, one of the most PERFECT and PARADISIACAL beaches of the Northeast. After a lot of dance and fun at the boat (listening to a music cd that we made especially for this trip), we arrived and stayed there for more than five hours: the students swam and enjoyed a lot! After, we went to get to know the Pontal Fair, famous for its beautiful handicraft.
At this moment, as it is a free morning, some students are sleeping, others enjoying the pool and some are just chilling at the beach, saying goodbye to Maceió!
